It is difficult to know if your property is leaking money through poor energy management. A simple energy assessment will measure the building’s overall energy efficiency and environmental impact and issue a "property rating".
The property rating is also a legal requirement for any Home Information Packs (HIPS).
An assessor will carry out a non disruptive, free-of-charge inspection of your property, taking approximately 1½ hours to review key elements of the building structure such as heating systems, insulation etc.
This information can be input into an Energy Assessment software programme and an Energy Performance Certificate produced, if required, giving a visual representation (on a scale of A-G) of how energy efficient your property is. There is a standard charge for producing the Certificate.
The certificate identifies the energy efficiency rating and environmental impact rating (C02) in a table format.
The tables highlight a current and potential rating which is based on what the property is now compared to what the property could achieve if the auditor’s recommendations are carried out.
