Domestic Wind Turbines

What are they and how do they work?

As an island nation the UK is ideally placed to harness the wind’s power.

Wind turbines are the most common of alternative energies and are becoming more popular in domestic applications. The basic principle of the technology involves the wind driven movement of rotor blades which operates a generator that produces electricity.

The output from wind turbines vary dramatically from a few hundred watts to 2 or 3 megawatts. A typical domestic system would be 2.5 – 6 kw depending on the location and size of your house.
